Tony Correia 

Tony Correia is widely ​recognized as a leading authority on the valuation of agricultural and rural properties, with a special emphasis on vineyards and wineries. He has previously earned an appraisal designation as an Accredited Rural Appraiser (ARA), from a recognized professional organization, the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA) and is also a former Professional Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRISC.) Although he has now retired from both professional organizations, he regularly performs appraisals for which he receives compensation. He is currently an owner of The Correia Company.

Tony provides a wide array of valuation and consulting services on agricultural and rural properties, specializing in more challenging valuations involving wineries, vineyards, estate planning and settlement, undivided partial interests in real property, and water rights. He is also an instructor of valuation courses and seminars throughout the nation and Mexico, and is also a frequent public speaker on agricultural properties, appraisal, taxation, estate planning issues, water rights, and the vineyard and wine industries. Tony has extensive experience in appraisal of vineyards and wineries, having been professionally engaged in such appraisals for thirty years. He has also planted, replanted and operated his own vineyards, and has operated vineyards as a professional manager. He has developed and taught most of the professional appraisal seminars and courses on the topic, and has contributed to several textbooks published on the subject. Tony also provides expert witness valuation services and is qualified as an Expert Witness in many local, State and Federal courts in California, Arizona, Nevada and Illinois.

After undergraduate work at Saint Mary’s College of California and Syracuse University, Tony graduated from California State University, Fresno, with a major and post-graduate work in English and a second major in Russian. Prior pursuits include former lives as a grape grower, partner in a large commercial real estate brokerage, various government positions, including tours as an IRS examiner, and as a military intelligence analyst, cryptologist, and linguist. He now lives in San Juan Bautista, with his wife Stephanie, and enjoys travel, great literature and music, fast cars, slow cooking, gardening, the study of wine, and the pursuit of knowledge.

Demian Luper


Demian Luper has been working in the field of real estate appraisal since 2012, under the guidance of Tony Correia. He holds a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser licensee (#3000502) from the California Bureau of Real Estate Appraisers. Demian has worked on a wide variety of property types, ranging from small family-owned legacy vineyards to large commercial operations numbering in the thousands of acres. These valuations have included wine country estate homes, wineries, and water infrastructure. While Demian’s work has been largely concentrated in Napa and Sonoma Counties, he has performed valuations on properties in Monterey, Santa Barbara, Lake and Mendocino Counties, and in Oregon as well. He has expertise in valuing American Viticultural Areas, Estates and Undivided Interests. He has worked for a variety of client types, including regional banks, pension funds, investment funds, both privately and publicly held wine companies, individual land owners and real estate brokers. 

Born and raised in the Napa Valley, Demian has been involved in various facets of the wine industry, starting with his job while still in high school. He has sold wine in different settings, from tasting rooms in the Napa Valley to restaurants such as Juveniles and Willy’s Wine Bar in Paris, France. He also marketed and promoted his family’s own label, Quinta da Carolina, from the Douro Valley in Portugal. The experience in Portugal also included working several crushes using traditional winemaking methods. His experience in agriculture has not been limited to the wine business. Working for Fair Trade Certification in the USA, he helped coffee farmer co-ops in Mexico, Brazil and Ethiopia gain market share in the United States. He also has experience in organic and sustainable beef farming in California.
 
Demian graduated from University of California, Berkeley, majoring in History, with supporting courses in French and Geography. While at Cal he received Division I All-American status in Track & Field. Demian has also been a recruiter and a content creator for various tech startups, including the pioneering wineshopper.com. He was also a language instructor in Portugal, teaching English to executives of large organizations such as Portugal Telecom and Caixa Geral Depositos. He now lives in San Rafael with his wife, two dogs and one grumpy cat. In his spare time, Demian is an avid reader of California history, grower of chili peppers and collector of old cookbooks and vinyl records.
